About CO-HSTA
The Colorado chapter of the Honda Sport Touring Association came to an "organized life" in 1998 as a spawn-off of the Colorado VFR list. The group converted over to an HSTA membership in order to take advantage of the national services, discounts, and leverage that the national association offers.
Take a look at our calendar and come on out and ride with us, or drop us a line with any questions.
The Rides
The CO-HSTA is a riding group. We spend almost all our time together riding and/or eating. The group comes together once or twice a month for a semi-organized ride. We plan a route to lunch and ride there and back. Pretty simple stuff.
Rides range in length from 250 to 400 miles in a day. This isn't one of those sportbike groups that meet at 10pm near some bar and head off for an hour of hooliganism. This is a rider group, made up of riders who are almost always up for a good strong ride through the mountains be it rain or shine. We've seen rain, snow, heavy winds, and blazing heat all in the same 100 mile stretch. Most of us wear full textile suits for safety, and every one wears a helmet. We hate to say it, but show up for one of our rides without the proper gear and you'll almost certainly be turned back for your own safety.
Check the Calendar for upcoming rides!
Safety
Every group has their "Rules of the Road" as it were. If they don't, maybe you should re-consider riding with them.
For the safety of all, we have our code of conduct in print and we've posted it here. Please, check it out. This is a pretty casual group, but we strongly believe in safety of yourself and others. Know the rules and follow them.
A guy by the name of Nick Ienatsch wrote an article about a certain type of motorcycle riding: The Pace. We've absorbed many of his ideas into our safety code. Essentially, what he brought to the motorcycle industry is a focus on motorcycle control and a de-emphasis on outright speed. It's an idea of having fun, becoming a better rider, and being safe on the unpredictable road.
Tailgaiting, passing on the right, and similar "squidly" behavior will not be tolerated.
